Grampian Mountains
**Sorry this post took so long. There is a ton of construction going on around my apartment and I think it is screwing with my phone service and internet connection. But now the post is finally here!!
This past weekend I spent two days in the Grampian Mountains with the Trips and Tours group on my campus. We had about 45 people all together from multiple universities and representing multiple nationalities.

So we hopped on a big bus with air conditioning, personal lights, toilets, overhead compartment space, and our very own personal tour guide. Our trip was about a 3 hour drive with stops along the way.
We stopped in this little town that reminded me of Littleton!

We also made a stop at Kryal Castle. It is a real castle that they turned into a tourist attraction.

After a long day of riding in the bus and taking nature walks, we finally got to our hostel where we were staying for the night. Of course we were the only hostel room that had a broken heater.

Then they started telling us the story of the Dropbears and that they were going to take us to the biggest koala in Australia. His name is Sam, he has red eyes, and can be a little agressive at times.
This is Sam the Giant Koala....ain't he cute?

The thing on the left is one of the very first football in Australia. (okay, maybe not actually one of the first, but is a representation of the first) It was made of possom hide and filled with rocks. The hide is really soft.
I don't remember what the things on the right are called. They are used to make music. It immediatley made me think of something Daniel would enjoy. It makes the wierdest noise.
We went for a walk and found a bunch of wild kangaroos out in a field. I found one with a baby and we found a joey still in the pouch! I even got close enough to pet one!! They are really quite amazing creatures to watch.

We went to different waterfalls. I was able to get really close and even stand under the waterfall if I had really wanted to.

We went on a lot of walking trails to see the beauty of the Grampian Mountains, but we really just got to see the beauty of fog. Haha!

On one of our walks, we had this scenery on both sides of the path. I felt like I was in the Lord of the Rings. The picture doesn't do it justice.

We were told to be silly and only Ben, our tour guide, actually did something.

I had lots of fun on this trip with Trips and Tours on campus. I will probably join them on their Great Ocean Roads/Philips Island Tour where I will get beautiful scenery of the ocean and see penguins and other creatures.
But next time I will remember to bring a working rain coat. This is what happens when you buy a cheap, thin rain coat...you get wet and cold!
